Yesterday, I provided some details on Lincoln’s Polyglot Club, specifically, the literary magazine. I’ve received a bit more information that I wanted to be sure to share with everyone.
The NEW deadline for early submissions is the LAST day of Winter Break (aka Monday, January 2nd). What could possibly be better than an extension of a deadline? How’s about FREE stuff?
Yup, if you submit your work BEFORE the end of break, you’ll be entered into an early submissions contest – prizes are Powell’s gift cards. Come on now, who doesn’t love free stuff?
Of course, if you’re not ready by then, you can still submit your work after January 2nd. I’ll find out the final final deadline & post again.
Submissions should be sent to email@example.com. Happy Writing!
Lincoln’s own Polyglot Club is accepting early submissions, December 16th, for the school’s literary magazine.
Submissions should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
Use your writing skills to make some cash! I’ll post anytime I run across a scholarship opportunity & here’s the first one. Text taken from the Willamette Writers page.
Financial amounts to be determined will be in the range of $100-$250.
1. Original, unpublished writing sample of less than 1000 words, typed, double-spaced. The sample should be titled, but should not include any information about the author. Writing published in school publications is eligible.
2. A cover letter with contact information that includes the title of the writing sample, and a paragraph that includes information about the student’s goals as a writer.
3. Letter of recommendation from an instructor in the current academic year.
Submit all materials to the following address:
In previous years, student entries have ranged about one third fiction, one third essays, one third memoirs, and some poetry. Letters of recommendation have generally run one to two paragraphs.

No one has to tell you that the extended essay deadline is fast approaching. Hopefully, you’re getting enough sleep & are feeling good about all of the hard work you’ve accomplished up to this point.
There is still time to stop by the Writing Center before that deadline. We’re in the Library from 2:30-4:30pm. Time slots are getting snapped up so if you want a writing tutor to spend some time with your work, please make an appointment. You can do this by filling out the appointment book in the library OR via email email@example.com. Please feel free to email your paper so we can spend some time reading it over BEFORE we meet with you.
You’re so close and should be so proud of yourselves! Let us help you with these last couple of steps!!
There is no way, no how, that the following is a complete listing of Portland area Book Clubs but it’s a start. I’ll add to the list as I find more.
